Experiential Learning

Experiential learning at LCTW involves practical training in wildlife conservation, helping to build skills in animal care, rehabilitation, and habitat management. This approach also supports the training of government officials, students and local partners, enhancing their ability to protect wildlife and combat illegal trafficking.

Rescuing wildlife and releasing them back into the wild is vital, but it’s only part of the solution for species' survival. At LCTW, we’re driven to deepen community relationships exploring how biodiversity and forest health directly benefit human well-being. By working with communities and visitors, we hope to inspire people to be conservation stewards and take action that lasts.

Education is at the heart of our work. We host interns from Laos and abroad across fields like veterinary care, animal welfare, and even accounting. We also run wildlife training sessions for government officials and offer programs for students from the National University of Laos. For younger students, we make learning fun with hands-on activities like wildlife enrichment projects and scavenger hunts. We also offer guided tours led by wildlife professionals, helping to spread awareness about the importance of our work and the incredible animals we care for. Our center, just 1.5 hours from Vientiane, is a true hub for conservation in Laos, and we’re in a unique position to reach people from across the country.
